The Browser Surrogate is a Web Caching Proxy. For a simple explanation of what Web caching is and how it works see this page. Web caching can help speed up how long it takes for webpages to load by saving a copy of its resources locally so it doesnt have to send a request to the origin server, the resource can be served straight from the Browser Surrogate.

The Extra Security, provided by Browser Surrogate, comes from combining multiple Threat Intelligence Feeds, piping each malicious domain into an internal process which builds the Black list used by the Browser Surrogate. Any attempt to browse to a known malicious Domain will be blocked, protecting you from cyber attacks. Each Browser Surrogate is also configured to prevent some well-known web attack techniques, which means you can browse the web with confidence.

By using Browser Surrogate you automatically get the benefits of additional Privacy because destination websites will not see your IP Address, they will see the IP Address of the Surrogate. This means those destination websites wont be able to correlate your web browsing with your Internet Service Provider or your Location allowing you to Browse more Privately.

The Standard Shared Surrogate does apply limits on Network Bandwidth and Download File Size to ensure users share a reliable, fast, and secure connection to the Web.

The Dedicated Surrogate gives you the opportunity to customize your Blacklist. In addition to blocking known bad domains you can also block any custom domain you want. The Dedicated Surrogate can also utilize a Whitelist, which will only allow you to browse to the domains explicitly allowed. This is a very powerful Security measure that can be useful for:
