Browser Surrogate is a Web Caching Proxy service offering additional Security and Privacy features you dont get with your normal Web Browsing.

This service is not an intercepting proxy and CANNOT decrypt your HTTPS traffic or see any private data.

The main difference between a Web Proxy, like the Browser Surrogate, and a VPN is your traffic is decrypted by the VPN server before it is sent back to the Internet. Browser Surrogate lacks the ability to decrypt your traffic.

VPN:

• All your traffic is sent to the VPN server
  
  
• The VPN server can decrypt all your traffic, log it, send it to other servers on the Internet, etc.
  
  
• Usually requires installing a VPN Client software on your computer
  
  

Browser Surrogate:

• No software installation
  
  
• Only handles web traffic

Mobile Applications may break when you configure Browser Surrogate at the system level. There could be multiple reasons for this, but if the Browser Surrogate breaks a Mobile Application you can try:

• Adding an exclusion in your Proxy Configuration for the domain(s) associated with the mobile application.
  
• Use the Mobile Web Browser to access the platform, website, or service instead of the application.
  
  
  

It is considered best practice to use strong, unique passwords for your online accounts. The reason for this is, if someone gains access to one of your passwords they will only be able to access that one online account. If all your accounts used the same passwords they would be able to access all of them.

Keeping passwords safe is the same as keeping them private. One way to keep passwords safe is to use a Password Manager, you can use a search engine to find more information abount specific password managers you feel comfortable using. There are both paid and free versions, cloud hosted and self hosted. Choose whats best for you based on your preferences.
